Just two months since Able Flight’s “Class of 2016” arrived at Purdue University, seven have already become licensed pilots. By the time the last flight touches down, the students will have logged more than 330 hours of instruction, requiring approximately 1,600 hundred gallons of Swift Fuels' UL94 avgas, and numerous oil changes. The new pilots will get get their wings at a Wing Pinning Ceremony at this year’s AirVenture, July 26, at 11 a.m.
Swift Fuels, LLC is partnering with DeLand Municipal Airport and will be the sole supplier of unleaded avgas to power aircraft at the 2016 DeLand Sport Aviation Showcase on November 3-5, 2016.
WEST LAFAYETTE, IN--(Marketwired - Apr 5, 2016) - Swift Fuels, a global leader in the development of high-performance unleaded aviation gasoline, announced today that its Unleaded 102 Motor Octane aviation gasoline (Avgas) was one of two fuels approved by the FAA's Piston Aviation Fuels Initiative (PAFI) to advance to the next Phase of testing. This approval recognizes Swift Fuels as a true leader in unleaded avgas.
As part of its ongoing efforts to develop an acceptable unleaded fuel for small airplanes, the FAA announced that it has selected two unleaded fuels for PHASE 2. Fuel formulations from Shell and Swift Fuels were selected for Phase 2 engine and aircraft testing. Test data will help the companies obtain an ASTM International Production Specification for their fuels and allow the FAA to authorize the existing GA fleet to use the unleaded replacement fuels. Phase 2 testing will begin this summer and conclude in 2018.
Fuels formulated to serve the general aviation piston fleet of the future are being put through a battery of tests in laboratories, and the FAA has released images and details as the first phase of the process draws to a close.
